Last day at QR (cont.)

Yesterday flew. Between the morning tea, and lunch, saying goodbye, and finishing the last touches on the Portal Login Alerts project (good luck Angela!) I hardly had a chance to stop and reflect on the day.

I was at QR for seven years which is a huge chunk of my adult life, and longer than I've worked anywhere else. And as much as it was time for a change, it was sad saying goodbye to my work colleagues yesterday, many of whom have become good friends (who I just happened to see everyday!), and whom I will miss. I'd managed to get through the day without the tears that Kerry and I thought might turn up. But I almost shed a tear when I got a goodbye hug from Gary at the pub. (If you don't know Gary you might remember him from my Ears Wide Shut flick). But this holiday is something I've wanted for quite some time, even before I started at QR. So a final goodbye to the QR guys. I'll miss you. Good luck with the portal - the end is in sight!

The next week looks as hectic as the last six. I fear that I'm not going to be able to say goodbye to nearly as many people as I'd have liked. But I am comforted by how easy it is to stay in touch these days. I know we managed just fine without the internet, but it surely wasn't half as fun... let alone as easy to stay in touch.
